The Margaret Mitchell Collection
This collection contains materials regarding American author, Margaret Mitchell. Mitchell was lauded for her book “Gone with the Wind,” for which she won a Pulitzer Prize. Mitchell was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1900 and passed away after a car accident in 1949. Mitchell is now known as a highly controversial figure due to her personal opinions centering around politics and race.
The Outlaws and Peace Officers Collection
The Outlaws and Peace Officers Collection contains booklets, weeklies, and newspaper articles pertaining to both men and women on either side of the law. Highlights of the collection include pamphlets and newspaper clippings about Jesse James, Wyatt Earp, Calamity Jane, and “Doc” Holliday.
The Taxpayer Collection
This collection contains editions of the Walker County, Texas periodical “The Taxpayer” on local politics and economics.
The Welfare Reporter Collection
This collection contains editions of “The Welfare Reporter”, a periodical which focuses on mental health in prisons, as well as administrative issues. This periodical is circulated by the New Jersey Department of Institutions and Agencies.
Warden Keith Price Collection
This collection contains personal and professional materials collected by former TDCJ Warden Dr. Keith Price. These materials include from TDCJ internal correspondence and training materials, publications, greeting cards, photographs, and other ephemera from Dr. Price’s career.
Watergate Newspaper Clippings Collection
The Watergate Clippings Collection (1972 – 2009; 3 boxes) contains newspaper and magazine clippings documenting the events of the Watergate scandal. Most of the clippings are from newspapers and more specifically the Houston Post with some from the Morning Telegraph. There are also several copies ofclippings from the Times and Newsweek magazines. In these clippings, reporters and witnesses, and cartoonists weigh in with commentary of the details of the Watergate incident.
